Curtsinger Elementary School

Dear Parents, Guardians and Loved Ones,

Welcome to (or back to) Curtsinger Elementary! I’m Jessica Dupre and I will be your PTA President this year. I’ve had at least one child at Curtsinger for the past 12 years, and currently have twins entering Fourth grade. My oldest is a rising Senior, so this will be an exciting year navigating my new PTA role as well as trying to figure out all things college! I feel blessed to be a part of our incredible Curtsinger community and look forward to getting to know many of you better throughout our many events and service opportunities this year. If this is your first year at Curtsinger, if you have just moved here from another city, state or country, or if you’re a returning parent… please reach out to me if you have any questions. We strive to create a feeling of inclusiveness and I think it is beautiful that our school has so many rich cultures and backgrounds.

The PTA is a 100% volunteer run organization and the board is made up of parents/loved ones just like you. The PTA raises money using fundraisers that are enjoyable for our kids and community (mostly through our Raise Craze kindness fundraiser coming on Sept. 16th and the Spring Block Party). We also use opportunities like grocery store loyalty rewards and corporate sponsorships. The funds that the PTA gains are used for big purchases (like the canopy over the playground), fun programs for students (both during school and in the evening), teacher support (supplemental supplies and luncheons), and other spirit-building treats such as the class shirts that we provide free of charge for each student. We also try to organize charitable giving opportunities and run the school book fairs to benefit our library and teachers.

Right now, please head to curtsingerpta.org, log in and click on PTA Memberships and Class Dues. There you will need to enter or update your family information, then you can join the PTA and also pay for your child(ren)'s class dues (the dues will auto-populate after the student is entered in the family information). Your PTA membership does not mean that you have to volunteer, we just need a community of supporters to be able to provide activities and services at school. We will also win awards based on how many people become members! The class dues go towards providing Winter, Valentine’s and End of Year parties for each class. The 5th grade dues are a little more because in addition to the three class parties, 5th grade has many more exciting opportunities such as Colonial Day, Graduation and an extra shirt.

The second thing to do is to get your background check completed in Voly. We love having parents come to campus as volunteers to help out in various ways. In order to do that, the district requires each person to have a completed background check done each year. You can find the link for that in the "Volunteer" tab on our website.

If you'd like to get even more involved, please consider joining our PTA Board. The positions we still have available are: Watch DOGS (Dads of Great Students), Helping Hands and Bricks. Please fill out this Google form, with job descriptions if interested or feel free to email me for more info.

Please keep up with us on Facebook and Instagram @CurtsingerPTA where we post about campus happenings and upcoming events.

Thank you and see you soon!
