Curtsinger Elementary School

Please welcome our 2022-2023 President, Amanda Carter!

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Welcome back to Curtsinger! I’m Amanda Carter, your new PTA president. I’ve been a proud Curtsinger parent for 8 years, and with a starting kindergartener will be here for another 6! I feel very blessed to be a part of the incredible community of teachers, staff and parents that we have at Curtsinger and am so excited to get to serve even more closely with many of you!

The PTA is a fully volunteer organization and the board is made up of parents just like you. The PTA raises money using fundraisers that are enjoyable for our kids and community (mostly through our new Raise Craze service fundraiser this year and the Spring Block Party). We also use free fundraising opportunities like grocery store and Amazon Smile partnerships. The funds that the PTA raises are used for big purchases (like the canopy over the playground), fun programs for students (both during school and in the evening), teacher support (supplemental supplies and luncheons), and other spirit-building treats such as the class shirts we provide free of charge for each student. We also try to organize charitable giving opportunities and run the school book fairs to benefit our library and teachers.

One of the biggest goals of our PTA this year is to find and build volunteer opportunities for all parents. No matter what your schedule allows or what challenges your life circumstances bring, we would love you to be a part of our Curtsinger community. Please consider joining our wonderful PTA board and taking on a leadership position. However, if you only have 1 hour a year to help; we are excited to hear from you, because we have volunteer opportunities for you too!

Here are some board positions that are still available: Membership, Watch DOGS (our awesome Dad-led group), Arts in Education, Helping Hands, Inclusiveness and Parliamentarian. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have about these positions to see if they would be a good fit for you.

Here are some quick jobs that need to be completed in the next couple of weeks: Helping with the new Raise Craze service fundraiser in early September, volunteering at the book fair in October, Helping Hands in the cafeteria for our younger students, library volunteers, and recess monitors at the school.

Lastly, at Meet the Teacher, please come by our greeting table and meet us. We will also have spirit wear available for purchase that night for $15 which can be paid by cash, check or PayPal. In the coming weeks, look out for communications that we send out. In addition, please reach out to us with suggestions, concerns, random thoughts, anything! I can’t wait to start the new year with all of you.
